Boyle County  was formed in 1842. It is located in the Bluegrass region of the state. The elevation in the county ranges from 740 to 1364 feet above sea level. In 2000 the county population was 27,697 in a land area of 181.90 square miles, an average of 152.3 people per square mile. The county seat is Danville.
